Nokia 5.3 review
Nokia 5.3 with 13MP quad rear camera setup, a 4000mAh battery and Snapdragon 665 SoC is aiming to compete in the midrange segment.
Design
The phone is solidly built and has a glossy back finish with plastic frames on the sides. Nokia is popular for its designs and is less likely to disappoint buyers in this regard. However, this phone measures (164.3×76.6x 8.5mm), which is to say, the phone is thick but still has a reasonable weight of 185 grams. Nokia 5.3 has a Google Assistant button on its left side. For biometrics, it features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and face lock. Also, a headphone jack is present at the top of the phone.
Camera
Nokia 5.3 sports a quad set of rear cameras on a circular dial. These include a 13MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 2MP macro sensor, and the last 2MP depth sensor with autofocus that completes the setup. You can’t expect the camera to create pictures like flagship phones but, as per the price bracket, it may capture decent pictures. As far as the selfies are concerned, an 8MP wide-angle lens lies inside the notch. You can use it to capture wide group selfies and video calls. As for video recording, FHD 1080p videos can be shot @30fps using both the front and rear cameras.
Performance
Nokia 5.3 sports Qualcomm’s midrange SD665 chipset with 8-performance cores. It has Android v10 as its operating system and is affiliated to Google’s Android One program that probably secures path for future updates. Adreno 610 GPU which is assisted by 4GB of RAM takes care of its graphics performance. Useful sensors including accelerometer, proximity, and, also a light sensor that adapt brightness and automatically control it depending upon the light source, are all present.
Battery
Nokia 5.3 is driven by a 4000mAh battery and comes with fast charge support. Judging by the battery size, it should deliver a day of power backup under average usage.
